This town 7 km south of Moukhtara,
is interesting for its old buildings in the style of Beiteddine.
Of particular note is the former palace of Ali Pasha Jumblat,
a confederate of Fakhreddine II (died in 1635). This and other
buildings in the feudal style are still partly in use, although
in need of restoration.
Baadaran is also known for its
abayas, usually made with gold embroidery on dark colors.
Between Moukhtara and Baadaran,
the attractive village of Ammatour also retains its traditional
mountain architecture. Above Ammatour look for an ancient khalwa,
where Druze initiates meet for prayer and meditation.
